Before My First Payment
In most cases, your creditors will not recognize your participation in a debt management program (DMP) until they have received 2 things:
- A proposal from GFM
- Your first payment
For this reason, you will not likely receive benefits until, at the very least, both of these events have occurred. GFM disburses your payment to your creditors 8 days after receiving your payment. Depending on whether your creditor is paid electronically or by check, it may take a total of 10-15 days from your GFM payment date for your creditor to post your payment to your account. The larger the creditor, the more quickly the payments will usually be reflected.
If you are receiving collection calls and letters, these typically continue for several weeks, even up to 90 days, after your first payment on your debt management program. GFM can help to stop these calls from your creditors - just contact one of our expert Client Services Center Representatives at 1.800.460.8641. Please know that it is not unusual to still receive a few calls during the first 90 day period.
